DESTINATION: RAJSHAHI

Shrine of hazrat Shah Mokhdum

This Majar or Dorga is constructed around the grave of Hazrat Shah Mokhdum Ruposh. It is believed that Hazrat Shah was the first preacher in the Rajshahi division. A belief exists that Hazrat came on a crocodile through the river Padma. Today, one can see crocodiles reserved in the large pond (Dighi).

Varendra Research Museum

This museum is among the oldest museums in the country and is located at the heart of Rajshahi city. The library of the museum has over 22,0 printed books.

Kazla, Talaimari

Rajshahi has two public universities, The University of Rajshahi and The University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), which are located in Kazla-Talaimari area. Rajshahi is known as the educational capital of Bangladesh.

Shaheb Bazar

The area has the municipality office, the Rajshahi College, Loknath School, Collegiate school, Masjid Mission Academy, the Deaf and Mental schools.

Bangladesh Betar and Television

Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh television have their offices here.

Central Park and Zoo

Situated beside the bank of river Padma, the Central Park and Zoo is a major attraction of Rajshahi City. There are lush green trees and grasses and many animal species in this region.

Puthia

The place has many historical Hindu structures. These include the Govinda Temple, which has many miniature ornamental towers. These have many Terracotta design intricate design of Hindu epics. Another important structure is the Siva Temple with five-spire Hindu style.

Paharpur

This small village has the largest monastery south of the Himalayas.
